How to play Carrom
You play White and your opponent Black, with nine carrom men each and the red queen in the middle. Slide the striker along your baseline by dragging on the board (or with A and D), then press on the striker, drag back to aim and set power, and release to flick. Pot one of your own men and you shoot again.
After pocketing the queen you must cover it by potting one of your men on the same shot or the next, or it returns to the centre. Your last man can't go down while the queen is still on the board. Potting the striker is a foul. The first player to clear all nine men wins.
Tips
- ▸Slide the striker before you aim. A straight line from striker to man to pocket is far easier than a thin cut.
- ▸Go for the queen when one of your men sits near a pocket, ready for the cover shot.
- ▸Avoid potting your opponent's men: they stay off the board and bring your opponent closer to winning.
- ▸Play gently near pockets: slow discs close to one get pulled in, and hard shots risk sinking the striker too.
Carrom FAQ
- Can I play carrom with a friend?
- Yes, on the same device. Choose Two players and take turns: Player 1 is White and Player 2 is Black. There's no online mode for carrom.
- What happens if the striker goes into a pocket?
- It's a foul and your turn ends. Any men potted on that shot come back, plus one you'd already pocketed. If you have none yet, you owe one, paid back with the next man you pot.
- Is the AI hard to beat?
- It tests dozens of shots from different baseline positions with the board's real physics and plays the best. There's one difficulty level.
