How to play Times Tables

Pick a table from 2 to 12, or choose Mix for questions from all of them. Each round is 12 questions against a 60-second clock. A sum such as 7 × 8 appears with four possible answers: tap the right one, or type it and press Enter. After a wrong answer the correct one is shown before the next question.

A correct answer scores 10 points, and answers in a row add a streak bonus of up to 10 more. Get all 12 right on a table and one of its three dots fills in; three perfect rounds on the same table earn a gold star.

Tips

  • ▸A single-table round asks every fact from × 1 to × 12 once, in random order, so a perfect round shows your child really knows that table.
  • ▸Accuracy beats speed: a wrong answer wipes out the streak bonus, so take an extra second rather than guess.
  • ▸On a computer, typing is often quicker than reading four buttons. Pressing any number key jumps straight to the answer box.
  • ▸Once a few tables have gold stars, play Mix to check the facts still come quickly out of order.

Times Tables FAQ

Which times tables are covered?
Every table from 2 to 12, each with multipliers from 1 to 12. Practise one table at a time, or pick Mix for random questions from all of them.
How does my child earn a gold star?
By scoring 12 out of 12 on the same table in three separate rounds. Each perfect round fills one dot under that table's button. Mix rounds don't count towards stars.
Is progress saved between visits?
Yes. Stars and dots are stored in your browser on this device, along with your best score. Clearing site data or switching device starts fresh.
