How to play Word Guess
Find the hidden five-letter word in six tries. Type a guess and press Enter, or use the on-screen keyboard; each guess must be a real word from the game's list. The tiles then flip: green means right letter, right spot, yellow means the letter is in the word but somewhere else, and grey means it isn't in the word.
The keyboard is coloured the same way, so you can see which letters are left. Solve the word and your win streak grows by one; run out of guesses and the answer is shown and your streak resets. Your score is your current streak. A new word is picked every round, and your best streak and wins are shown above the grid.
Tips
- βΈOpen with five different common letters, such as least or audio, to test as many letters as possible.
- βΈUse your second guess on new letters rather than reusing grey ones.
- βΈA yellow tells you where a letter isn't, so try it in a new spot. And remember that letters can repeat, as in sleep.
Word Guess FAQ
- How do repeated letters work?
- Each letter in the answer colours only one tile. If you guess two Es and the answer has one, only one E turns green or yellow and the other turns grey.
- Do I have to wait a day for a new word?
- No. A new random word is chosen every round, so you can play as often as you like.
- Why does it say Not in word list?
- Guesses must be real five-letter words from the game's dictionary. A rejected word doesn't use up a try.
- Can I play on my phone?
- Yes. Use the on-screen keyboard below the grid.
