How to play Cave Flyer
Your helicopter flies forward through a winding cave on its own. Hold Space, the mouse button or a finger on the screen to climb, and let go to drop. The helicopter gains and loses height gradually rather than instantly, so smooth control works better than frantic tapping.
Your score is the distance you travel, in metres. The cave starts wide and gentle, then narrows and bends more sharply the further you go, and the helicopter flies faster too. Rock pillars also stand in the passage, and you have to pass above or below them. Touching the roof, the floor or a pillar ends the flight.
Tips
- βΈUse short, frequent holds to hover. A long hold builds up a lot of upward speed that is hard to stop before you hit the roof.
- βΈLook ahead to the right of the screen and start climbing or dropping early for big bends.
- βΈWhen you see a pillar, choose the bigger gap early and line up with it rather than switching at the last moment.
- βΈRelease slightly before you reach the height you want. The helicopter keeps moving for a moment after you change input.
Cave Flyer FAQ
- Does the cave keep getting narrower?
- Only up to a point. The gap shrinks steadily until about 1,100 metres and the speed tops out a little later, so from there the challenge stays the same.
- What can I crash into in Cave Flyer?
- The cave roof, the cave floor and the rock pillars that block part of the tunnel. One touch of any of them ends the run.
- Can I play Cave Flyer on a phone?
- Yes. Press and hold anywhere on the game to climb, and lift your finger to fall.
